While the Minnesota Teachers Union and its supporter were initially thrilled with their new ‘fire whites first’ policy. However, this stunning and brave new policy has been facing a new wave of criticism with detractors arguing that black teachers will now be forced to work, rather than be allowed to rest while being slowly fired over the course of many relaxing well paid years.
Teachers of all colors eagerly awaiting their long stay in the ‘rubber room’ - a place where teachers on the chopping-block lounge with no work - while the school bureaucracy wrestles with the union in an attempt to fire them, were horrified to learn that now white teachers would be first in line to enter the haven of the rubber room.
“This is an outrage”, declared one angry teacher, “I am just as lazy and do just as little as my white colleagues and shouldn’t be made to wait in line to be fired just because of the color of my skin!”
This sentiment is shared across the Teacher's Union as more and more voices can be headed calling for their own lengthy and lucrative terminations.
